Late

Got up in the morning,
The bed stretched "come back here."
"Can't," I said "LATE."

Went downstairs,
The stairs cracked "touch me."
"Can't," I said "LATE."

Went passed the kitchen,
The cupboard opened "take a cup."
"Can't," I said "LATE."

Went outside,
The cat purred, "Stroke me."
"Can't," I said "LATE."

Went and passed my bike,
The bike twitched "ride me."
"Can't," I said "LATE."

Went and passed a hedge,
The hedge growled "cut me."
"Can't," I said "LATE."

Went to the school gate,
The gate rattled, "Open me."
"Okay" I said and walked in.
